Abstract

One way to conduct an enjoyable and supportive setting is by applying a gamification strategy. It is not only applying technology as the platform but also can use the traditional one. However, it‟s still limited to the use of gamification in Reading skills. Besides, the implementation of gamification in a foreign language for a specific purpose is also rare. Thus, referring to that condition this research is designed to (1) describe how the implementation of gamification strategy related to students‟ reading comprehension and (2) to investigate the students‟ perception of the use of gamification strategy in reading class. This research applied a descriptive design. This research will describe both the best practice and inquiry of gamification conducted in a foreign language for specific purposes (FLSP) course, specifically in English reading class. The result of this study will provide and describe information for English teachers in applying gamification strategy. Moreover, the result of the student‟s perception will reflect the gamification implementation. In conclusion, the implementation of gamification is effective for reading instruction that might be suited to the context.
