Abstract

With the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program or Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the Republic of Indonesia, the international mobility of undergraduate students has increased rapidly through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. However, there has been no research related to this program
at State Polytechnic of Malang, while this campus sends the largest number of students among all polytechnics in Indonesia. This study aims to present a new research theme at the institution while developing a digital guidebook that can help prospective participants prepare themselves effectively for the IISMA selection. The research method used is Design and Development Research (DDR), which involves the stages of the preliminary study process, analysis, product development, and expert validation of the digital guidebook. The subjects of the study were 33 IISMA scholarship awardees in 2022-2023 and 15 first- and second-year students who still have the opportunity to take part in the IISMA selection as users. All participants in this study were students of the Diploma 4 English study program in Business and Professional Communication Sciences and the Diploma 4 English study program for the Tourism Industry, State Polytechnic of Malang. The research instruments used were semi-structured questionnaires, Focus Group Discussions, and user satisfaction surveys. While the data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The result is an informative and comprehensive digital
guidebook that prospective applicants can use to prepare themselves for future IISMA selection.
