Abstract

Due to the globalisation, many native and non-native teachers teach English in different countries around the world. However, students’ perceptions of local and foreign teachers in EFL contexts have not been sufficiently considered. Therefore, this qualitative case study explores the beliefs and experiences of an EFL student in relation to local and foreign EFL teachers in the context of a preparatory school at a private university in Turkey. The data collected through a semi-structured interview and a graphic elicitation task reveal that the student has different beliefs about local and foreign teachers in relation to her English learning and affective experiences. The results are discussed with suggestions for further research.
