Abstract

Indonesia has significant potential for tourism development due to its natural beauty and cultural diversity. However, many tourist attractions are not widely known, including the Mulawarman Museum in Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. This tourist attraction is mostly known by locals, so it has not yet reached a wider audience. This research discusses the development of a bilingual e-guidebook and promotional video as media promotion for the Mulawarman Museum, aiming to attract both the general public and foreign tourists in Indonesia. It employs the Design and Development Research (DDR) method, and followed five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Observation at the museum, interview for the tour guide, and questionnaire distribution through Google Forms to determine the necessity of developing the bilingual e-guidebook and promotional videos were conducted. The research subjects were the general public and foreigners in Indonesia. The bilingual e-guidebook was designed using Canva; while promotional videos were edited using CapCut. These products were validated by experts and underwent field testing. Questionnaires were distributed to assess the products’ benefits. The field-testing respondents confirmed that these products could effectively promote the Mulawarman Museum. With the bilingual e-guidebook and promotional videos, the researchers hope that potential visitors can obtain comprehensive information about this tourist destination, ultimately attracting more visitors and enhancing the museum’s competitive values among other tourism destinations in East Kalimantan.
