DEVELOPING A BILINGUAL DOCUMENTARY VIDEO TO INTRODUCE SMALL BUSINESS “JG GLASS” WITH SUBTITLE

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop a Documentary Video as a means to introduce and promote the JG Glass business in Malang Regency, Tumpang. The background of this research is that JG Glass did not have any media to carry out promotions or it can be said that JG Glass only promoted using traditional methods, namely door to door. This Documentary Video uses Indonesian for the subtitles and English for the voice over so that it can clarify the content of the Documentary Video and can widen its audience.

The purpose of this research is to produce a documentary video that includes company profile, production process, and promotion. This research uses the Design and Development Research (DDR) by Richey & Klein (2005) which uses the procedures of Preliminary Study, Design, Development, Evaluation, Implementation, and Evaluation Data collection methods for this research are interviews, observations, and questionnaires. In addition to that, the researcher conducted expert validations that involved language, media, and owner expert to validate the documentary video product.

The result of the research is a documentary video as a promotion which is divided into three parts, namely company profile, production process, and promotion with a total of approximately fifteen minutes which has an average of 4 - 5 minutes in one documentary video. The researcher also conducted a customer satisfaction survey to which resulted 3,83 or more than 90% of potential customers agreed with the development of a documentary video as a promotional tool.
