From Village to Voice: Using a Bilingual Guidebook to Boost English Writing Skill in Wonocoyo Tourism Villag

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, is Wonocoyo Tourism Village (Desa Wisata Wonocoyo), renowned for its beaches and stunning natural surroundings. Owing to its potential, Wonocoyo Tourism Village is expected to draw visitors from abroad. This aligns with the Seratus Desa Wisata (SADEWA) slogan by Trenggalek Regency Government as by 2024, Trenggalek has already announced a goal to create 100 tourist communities. Among other things, the tour guides' proficiency in English needs to be substantially improved in order to boost the overall number of tourists visiting the town. Since writing is a productive English skill that tour guides greatly need to assist tourists, language proficiency is one of the most important skills to develop in English. The bilingual guidebook is one of the strategies employed. Both English and Bahasa Indonesia are the languages used in the textbook. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the proficiency of tour guides in English writing at Wonocoyo Tourism Village in Trenggalek Regency, East Java. The results demonstrated that the bilingual guidebook effectively improved the tour guides' English writing abilities, as evidenced by the variations in their scores before and after its use.
