MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR FLIPPED LEARNING IN COMMUNICATIVEENGLISH CLASSROOM

The aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic witnessed the educators around the world being forced to get creative and innovate their current teaching method. Many succumbs to the use of internet to teach and be in touch with their students. With similar fate impacting fellow educators in Politeknik Merlimau Melaka, it was made compulsory for the educators to plan and devise teaching materials that can be accessed by the students synchronous and asynchronously, due to different limitations faced by both educators and the students. Hence, with the intention of helping fellow educators in the process of embracing this new norm, teaching and learning materials for DUE30022 Communicative English 2 course have been developed, targeting semester 2 and semester 3 students
undertaking the DUE30022 Communicative English 2 course. The materials were developed using different applications and software like Plotagon (for animation), Biteable and Powtoon (for interactive video), Screencast-o-matic, Screencastify and NCH Suite (video recording and editing) to name a few. These materials were designed to be compatible to be used and viewed on different online platform and devices, considering
many opt to access their materials on their mobile phones. Thus, it is hoped that the materials developed would be adapted and adopted by fellow educators, and at the same time benefitting our students who are still grappling with the idea of online learning.
