Abstract

The “Perahu Kertas” novel by Dewi "Dee" Lestari tells the story of the life journey and dreams of the two main characters, Kugy and Keenan. The novel “Perahu Kertas” has exciting themes, motifs, conflicts, and structures. A novel narrative can be parsed and analyzed using software such as Corpus Voyant in the digital era. The purpose of this research is to find the theme of the story, the main motive of the story, and the pattern of relationships between words in the novel. The research method used is qualitative research using Voyant Corpus software. The source of research data is the full text of the novel "Perahu Kertas" in digital format. Voyant Tools is downloaded from the Voyant website (https://voyant-tools.org/). The features of the linguistic corpus analyzed are (1) word frequency analysis using the "Summary" feature, context analysis using the "Contexts" feature to see the use of words in sentences, and data visualization features using the "Cirrus" and "Trends" features to make visualizations of frequently appearing words and word trend patterns. The study results showed that the number of words and unique word forms was 94,609 words and 10,443 unique word forms. The wide variety of words reflects the writer's ability to create a rich and imaginative narrative. A density of 0.110 indicates a wide variety of words, and a readability index of 27.721 demonstrates that the narrative of this story tends to be complicated. The average word per sentence is 9.0, indicating the use of sentences that are not too long so that the story is easy to understand. The frequency of the dominant words appearing is the word "yang" (2577 times), "kugy" (1622 times), "di" (1589 times), "and" (1481 times), and "keenan" (1436 times). From the results of this analysis, it can be seen that the novel “Perahu Kertas” has a complex and varied language structure with the main focus on the main characters and their life journey.
