Abstract

This study aims to investigate EFL teachers' challenges in integrating AI into their teaching and their strategies for coping with the challenges. The study applied a systematic literature review using the PRISMA Flow framework on 362 articles. From the screening process, 340 articles were removed leaving 22 eligible articles. The analysis identified several key challenges faced by teachers in utilizing AI, such as fear of academic dishonesty (6 articles), over-reliance on AI (6 articles), linguistic fidelity (5 articles), cultural insensitivity (4 articles), and information inaccuracy (4 articles). These challenges highlight the complexities of AI integration in education, raising concerns about ethical usage, dependency, and the reliability of AI-generated content. To address these issues, the literature recommends strategies such as encouraging community learning, providing relevant training to improve AI literacy, and strengthening policy and regulation frameworks. These measures are crucial for enabling educators to effectively and ethically incorporate AI tools into their teaching, ensuring that AI enhances rather than hinders educational outcomes.
